NEWS: Stay on your A game with Additional Services

Additional services became a hot topic in the aged care industry last year. No doubt about it, additional services will mean extra work and in some cases it may mean a shift in the way you think about the services you provide. But it also means extra income and who doesn’t need that right now? It doesn’t have to be that complicated. Sure you need some good planning and systems in place but in this consumer driven world we live in, you need to bring your A game if you are going to survive.

You considered it briefly, but it all seemed too hard and too much extra work. And what’s the benefit for you? I mean, what additional services would you offer? How much should you charge and would anyone agree to pay for them anyway? Besides, most of the services you thought of you already provide now for free. How are you going to manage all the associated paperwork and invoicing that goes along with charging for these types of services? 

Consider the things you already have:

  • Staff
  • Scheduling system
  • Finance system
  • Resident intel – you know what your residents want and like. And don’t forget to think about your future residents. What will they want?

Consider the things you need:

  • A manageable list of additional services – don’t try and be all things to all people, focus on what you know and do it well.
  • A way to keep track of the services residents have opted in and out of.
