NEWS: Prepare Your Staff for a Consumer-Driven Market

Ready for the New Quality Standards and A Consumer-Driven Market? Residential aged care providers are prepping for major industry developments and changes, including the transition to the Aged Care Quality Standards from 2019 and the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

The new quality standards, set to to empower consumers to drive quality, will see a shift towards a more market-focused and competitive environment. The Royal Commission include terms of reference that inquire into matters of how to ensure services are person-centred; and how best to deliver services in a sustainable way, including increased use of technology.

Such significant developments usually require a review of the systems you have in place; whether or not they will hold up to the changes confronting you and help you remain compliant. Early preparation and staff support are vital in this process.

When assessing your technology systems, a checklist will help you decide which product/system or supplier is most suited to help your business. It should include, among other things:

  • Are they able to provide staff training to help with the transition
  • Your budget
