NEWS: Accommodation Payments - Unique Situations Call for Unique Software

NEWS: Accommodation Payments - Unique Situations Call for Unique Software

As we all know, the structure of accommodation payments is unique to residential aged care. The same sets of rules do not apply to any other industry sector. It makes sense then to choose software designed specifically to manage payments under the new LLLB structure. Anything else is like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

Software that can assist with the complex calculations, management and responsibilities of residential accommodation payments can go a long way in easing the burden on finance staff and can greatly improve monthly billing processes.

Below we outline 3 useful things to consider when weighing up software options that manage accommodation payments under the LLLB structure.

Will it save me time or take up my time?

Any system that automatically calculates and tracks monthly payments should be given serious consideration as the time savings potential can be significant to any aged care business, large or small. Adding to this, always check out the reporting feature in the software. A huge amount of time can be saved when you don’t have to manually prepare reports each month.

Will it reduce errors or create more?

Any system that “talks” to other systems already in place in your organisation can potentially reduce the number of errors you experience.
A system that has appropriate checks and balances in place to ensure changes are correct and authorised before processed keeps you well informed and in charge of the decision-making process so that you can avoid errors each step of the way.

Will I be compliant?

A system that maintains an up to date and accurate Bond/RAD/RAC register, automatically deducts payments as required and generates refund statements is sure to go a long way in assisting with compliance and is worth your consideration.
Be sure to check the software is regularly updated to keep abreast of any government changes and if this is at an additional cost to you. You don’t want any nasty surprises along the way.

Along with these, there are of course more general considerations such as: “How easy is it to use and navigate?”; “How reliable and prompt is the customer support and training?”; “Does it offer real value for money?”.

Careful consideration must be given to this very unique situation if you really want to make a difference to your Finance team and help them successfully manage all your accommodation payment requirements and responsibilities.
