NEWS: Home Support Change – Who is in control?

NEWS: Home Support Change – Who is in control?

Every day, all around us, we are faced with change. From the beginning of time we have been changing; sometimes consciously and other times subconsciously.

I must admit that I thought we were in control of our own destiny and that we chose how we reacted to change. However after a recent family trip to the Museum of Natural History in New York I have rethought this idea. One member of our group kept asking questions based on the assumption that previous generations of animals had made conscious decisions to change their bodies, diets and the way they lived. Our tour guide went to great lengths to explain that the animals we were looking at did not choose to change in an intellectual sense. That they didn’t have a group meeting to decide what was the best way forward for them in the future! They adapted over a long period of time because that’s what their survival depended on.

This got me thinking. That even though we have developed into much more complex and sophisticated creatures, are we really in control of the changes in our lives and workplaces? Perhaps in order to survive in our modern world we are simply adapting the way we do things in the same way our predecessors were forced to adapt and change! I think that probably the answer is a bit of both.

For example, recent changes announced by the government mean that from 1st July 2016 all community support reporting has to be done via the online Data Exchange (DEX). Believing that we are in control we could all sit down and have a meeting about how we are going to manage this change. However, at the end of the day we will all have to change the way we do things to accommodate this new government requirement. Change or perish!

It’s times like this that your choice in software provider is vitally important.

A good software provider will have figured out a way for you to effectively and efficiently manage this change. A good software partner is flexible and adaptable and continually monitors and updates its software to keep up with industry and government requirements. A good software partner understands how to save you time and money with software programs and updates that you can easily implement in your workplace. With a software partner like that, you could even be fooled into thinking that perhaps you are in control of the change!
